Welcome to my Waiting on Wednesday / Can’t Wait Wednesday post. Today I am getting overexcited about…

Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted here, at Wishful Endings, and my version is a mix of what I’m waiting to read, whether it’s a new release that is not out yet, or an older book on my TBR shelf, which I really want to read but haven’t got around to it yet.
Here’s my ‘Can’t wait to read’, book for this week:

From Amazon

Elevator Pitch: The new crime thriller from number one Sunday Times bestseller and author of A Noise Downstairs Hardcover – 5 Sep 2019 by Linwood Barclay (Author)
‘You should read ELEVATOR PITCH by Linwood Barclay as soon as possible. It’s one hell of a suspense novel’ STEPHEN KING
‘This novel moves as fast as a falling elevator and hits with just as much force. Linwood Barclay is a stone cold pro and ELEVATOR PITCH is a shameless good time’ JOE HILL
It all begins on a Monday, when four people board an elevator in a Manhattan office tower. Each presses a button for their floor, but the elevator proceeds, non-stop, to the top. Once there, it stops for a few seconds, and then plummets.
Right to the bottom of the shaft.
It appears to be a horrific, random tragedy. But then, on Tuesday, it happens again, in a different Manhattan skyscraper. And when Wednesday brings yet another high-rise catastrophe, one of the most vertical cities in the world – and the nation’s capital of media, finance, and entertainment – is plunged into chaos.
Clearly, this is anything but random. This is a cold, calculated bid to terrorize the city. And it’s working. Fearing for their lives, thousands of men and women working in offices across the city refuse leave their homes. Commerce has slowed to a trickle. Emergency calls to the top floors of apartment buildings go unanswered.
Who is behind this? What do these deadly acts of sabotage have to do with the fingerless body found on the High Line? Two seasoned New York detectives and a straight-shooting journalist must race against time to find the answers . . .
Pulsating with tension, Elevator Pitch is a riveting tale of psychological suspense that is all too plausible . . . and will chill readers to the bone.
PRAISE FOR ELEVATOR PITCH:
‘You should read ELEVATOR PITCH by Linwood Barclay as soon as possible. It’s one hell of a suspense novel’ STEPHEN KING
‘This novel moves as fast as a falling elevator and hits with just as much force. Linwood Barclay is a stone cold pro and ELEVATOR PITCH is a shameless good time’ JOE HILL
‘A great cast of characters, tension, humour and a thrilling ending; this book takes Linwood to new heights!’ MARK EDWARDS
‘Grabbed me from the very first page. Riveting and heart-pounding’ MICHELE CAMPBELL
PRAISE FOR LINWOOD BARCLAY:
‘A suspense master‘ STEPHEN KING
Linwood Barclay is the international bestselling author of many critically acclaimed novels, including No Safe House, A Tap on the Window, Trust Your Eyes and the Richard & Judy 2008 Summer Read winner and number one bestseller, No Time for Goodbye. He lives near Toronto with his wife.
What have you been wanting to read?
This sounds absolutely compelling – perhaps even quite tongue-in-cheek, since elevator pitch has a slightly different meaning in the writing world!
Does this not sound good to you? Hailed psychological suspense, I feel it borders on horror, and that, I love!
Is this on your TBR or have you someone already been able to grab a copy and read it? What your ‘Can’t wait for’ book? Do let me know in the comments below. Thank you!
