Hey Bibliomaniacs,
It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for my weekly spotlight features, “What’s on your desk, Wednesday?”, where we take a visit to see what’s on somebody’s desk and have a good old nose around. (No kidding!) So without further ado, let’s meet today’s desk, I mean guest…
Welcome to where stories are created, from the desk of author Jan Selbourne

Sassy Brit : Tell us about your writing routine:
Jan Selbourne : I’m not an organized author. My stories begin with an idea and grow from there. My desk is my dining room table and I like to write in the mornings when its quiet. However, there have been many times I’ve woken in the early hours with a change of scene or new dialogue in my head. It’s a case of get up and get it in writing before it disappears! While writing The Proposition a glaring mistake came to me at 2am, I still can’t believe I hadn’t seen it while writing and editing.
SB: What’s the weirdest thing on your desk?
JS: – Nothing really weird except for Lexie the lizard who stares at the screen. I guess the colours fascinate her.
SB: The most useful item?
JS : – My USB stick.
SB : Three words to describe your desk?

SB: Where can we find out more about you?
JS : You can find me at these various places on the web —

The Proposition.
They met on the eve of a battle. One enlisted to avoid prison, the other enlisted to avoid the money lenders. On the bloodied fields of France, Harry Connelly collapses beside the corpse of Andrew Conroy. It is a risk, a hanging offence, it’s his only hope for a future. Harry swaps identity discs. Now Andrew, he is just another face in post war London until a letter arrives with a proposition. Accepting is out of the question, refusing plunges him into a nightmare of murder and blackmail. To survive he must live this lie without a mistake, until he falls in love with Lacey. To keep her he must tell the truth and face the consequences.

Jan and Brit,
Fun interview. I can’t believe Lexie the lizard doesn’t press on the keys and mess up what you are writing. So cute.
Callie
Yes! Lexie is also a star on Instagram too! https://www.instagram.com/p/By5PF0oALZH/
Thanks Callie, I think the colours on the screen fascinate her, she is a cutie.
Um, along with your awesome snakes and spiders, you can keep Lexie on your side of the world, Jan. While she’s (he’s?) cute, I like him best at a distance. You should feature Lexie in a story!
I think that’s Lexie’s next task, to get herself in Jan’s next book!
Hah, I will discuss it with her.
Dee, you wimp, Lexie is a bearded dragon lizard so relax, she is completely harmless. If she’s to feature in a story, it would have to be set in Australia. Something to think about.
OMG! I LOVE your lizard! You must write a story with a lizard in it! I love these features you always learn something new and interesting about the author.
Totally love this idea! The world needs Lexie in a story! I love her too! I’ve been calling her female… not sure if I’m right. 🙂
Lexie is a girl. I am not a reptile lover, Australia hosts the most deadly snakes in the world, but Lexie is cute, harmless and has a real character. We love her.
Thank you so much Alice.
What a cutie pie Lexie is! I hope you are rewarding her for helping out. My desk is the kitchen table usually with a kitty laying on the keyboard.
Well, that sounds like we need to see YOUR desk too, Suzanne! 😀
Yes Suzanne !
Thanks Suzanne, yes she was rewarded with some crickets and a woody – a type of wood grub that lizards love. I hope she doesn’t get a swollen head over all this attention.
Fun interview. And Lexxie is adorable!
Thank you very much. Lexie is a cutie, we love her.
That is hysterical. Who knew lizards liked to read?
Exactly! lol Bless her!
She’s a smart bearded dragon lizard !! Maybe not reading so much as liking my bright book covers??
