Hey Bibliomaniacs,

It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for my weekly spotlight features, “What’s on your desk, Wednesday?”, where we take a visit to see what’s on somebody’s desk and have a good old nose around. (No kidding!) So without further ado, let’s meet today’s desk, I mean guest…

Welcome to where stories are created, from the desk of author Annabel Allan

Sassy Brit : Tell us about your writing routine:

Annabel Allan:

I usually wake up, make a cup of coffee, and then do the usual of checking e-mails and such, pretty much catching up in the world! Then I sit my butt down at my desk and start writing.
Sometimes, if I start a manuscript at my desk, I end up needing to continue writing it at my desk, which was the case with Edgeplay. Other times, I need something to distract me a little so that the muse comes to play, so I sit in the living room, in front of the TV and put on a movie. That movie is usually Jurassic Park. I’m a big dinosaur geek! Haha.
I usually take breaks for lunch and dinner, then close up shop around 7pm…unless I’m on a roll, then I can be writing into the wee hours. I’m one of the lucky ones that gets to write full-time, so I’m always writing, or reading, when it’s my down time between novels.

SB: What’s the weirdest thing on your desk?

AA: –  I’d say just about everything is weird on my desk! Haha. But probably the fact that I have Disney figurines AND a skull. I’m a weird mix of light and dark with my aesthetic and it shows everywhere!

SB: The most useful item?

AA : –  My laptop! But besides my laptop, I’d say my pencil case, because I have everything in that little thing.

SB : Three words to describe your desk?

AA :  Weird, eccentric, Gothic.

SB: Where can we find out more about you?

Annabel Allan is the pen name of Stephanie Douglas. She is a full-time author and resides in Toronto, Canada. Catch her Smoke Chaser series, or her new BDSM thriller, Edgeplay!

This private world gets turned upside down the moment she meets Gabriel Burton; a man who is not only successful, but works for her father—and dating men in her father’s office is a big no-no. But, it’s hard to resist your deepest desires, especially when they kneel before you and kiss your feet, like a good boy.

  1. Richard Savage – Chatteris, UK – I was born in the north England in 1962. I have been a figurative artist for twenty years and strive to make my art work challenging and thought provoking. My work is diverse and I aim to capture something of the celebration of life in all its wonderful shades. I currently work from my Cambridgeshire studio, also giving art and life drawing classes. My background is in illustration, fine art and technical drawing. I work mainly in acrylics, but am also happy working in oils, pastels, line and wash, watercolour and mixed media. I draw inspiration from classical art, and the styles of the contemporary artists Boris Vallejo and Jack Vettriano.
    Richard Savage says:

I love this feature I think it gives a lot of insight into the way creative people work, really interesting 🙂

  2. I agree with Ric–this feature is a lot of fun!

I noticed the skull right away but had to go back and look for the Disney characters. Wonder if that says something about me. 😉 Annabel, you are very disciplined!

  3. Hi Annabel and Brit,
I think that the Disney figurine and skull combo makes you a well rounded person. Lol. Love that hot cover and will put Edgeplay on my tbr list.
