HAPPY FRIDAY!
Well, UNFORTUNATE FRIDAY is steaming along! Welcome to this week’s Book Beginning and Friday56 choice…
Continuing with my ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’ Friday Theme (here’s last Friday’s post) I am now on to the next book in the series…
Why? I received the lovely book The Incomplete History of Secret Organizations by Joe Tracz (book pictured above) to review and realised I just had to watch the Netflix TV series, which I am now doing, at the same time as reading all the books!
So without further ado… I present…
The Penultimate Peril
(A Series of Unfortunate Events Book 12)
by Lemony Snicket and Brett Helquist
UK READERS: Check out the series here! (New versions!)
My First Thoughts?
I’ve not started this one yet, as I must admit with all my Internet issues lately, I am a little behind, but I’m SO looking forward to getting to this one, the Penultimate episode! I’m so close to the end of this series I cannot wait to see what happens!
Dear Reader,
You have undoubtedly picked up this book by mistake, so please put it down. Nobody in their right mind would read this particular book about the lives of Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire on purpose, because each dismal moment of their stay in the village of V.F.D. has been faithfully and dreadfully recorded in these pages.
I can think of no single reason why anyone would want to open a book containing such unpleasant matters as migrating crows, an angry mob, a newspaper headline, the arrest of innocent people, the Deluxe Cell, and some very strange hats. It is my solemn and sacred occupation to research each detail of the Baudelaire children’s lives and write them all down, but you may prefer to do some other solemn and sacred thing, such as reading another book instead.
In The Penultimate Peril (watch at your own risk!)
With all due respect,
Lemony Snicket
Are you unlucky enough to own all 13 adventures? Yep, I am going to bore you share my Lemony Snicket love and devotion — ten more times! You lucky things, you! If you don’t want to read them all by then, well, I give up! lol
Book 1 – The Bad Beginning (The Friday 56 post).
Book 2 – The Reptile Room (last Friday’s Friday56 Post)
Book 3 – The Wide Window (last Friday56 post)
Book 4 – The Miserable Mill (last Friday’s Friday56 post)
Book 5 – The Austere Academy (My Friday’s Friday56 post)
Book 6 – The Ersatz Elevator (My Friday56 post)
Book 7 – The Vile Village (My Friday56 Post)
Book 8 – The Hostile Hospital (My Friday56 Post)
Book 9 – The Carnivorous Carnival (My Friday56 Post)
Book 10 – The Slippery Slope (My Friday 56)
Book 11 – The Grim Grotto (My Friday 56)
Book 12 – The Penultimate Peril
Book 13 – The End
And what about All the Wrong Questions? In this four-book series a 13-year-old Lemony chronicles his dangerous and puzzling apprenticeship in a mysterious organisation that nobody knows anything about:
‘Who Could That Be at This Hour?’
‘When Did you Last See Her?’
‘Shouldn’t You Be in School?’
‘Why is This Night Different from All Other Nights?’
Lemony Snicket was born before you were and is likely to die before you as well. He was born in a small town where the inhabitants were suspicious and prone to riot. He grew up near the sea and currently lives beneath it. Until recently, he was living somewhere else.
Brett Helquist was born in Ganado, Arizona, grew up in Orem, Utah, and now lives in New York City. He earned a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Brigham Young University and has been illustrating ever since. His art has appeared in many publications, including Cricket magazine and The New York Times.
HAVE YOU READ THIS SERIES?
I can’t wait to visit your blogs to find out. Have a great weekend, may your books be with you!
Luv Sassy X

I can’t wait to start the series but am also afraid that when I do I will end up spending a fortune on books… lol… I find myself in a Catch 22. 😀
Happy weekend!
lol that is a problem!
I have to look for this on Netflix.
I always find Sunny to be so charming, even when you don’t know what she’s saying. Happy Sunday!
