ABOUT THE BOOK (From Goodreads)

The Eagle and the Child: The Child

by S. Khubiar (Goodreads Author)
 4.74  ·   Rating details ·  19 Ratings  ·  10 Reviews
Working for the Mossad was never as dangerous as retiring from it. Shahla is an Israeli asset concealed in her American job, and an injury leads to a new life with a man who restores her body and soul. The forbidden union challenges the couple when Shahla’s Persian Jewish culture clashes with his. The marriage is further complicated when she refuses to discuss her past, and an unseen figure for whom she has affection overshadows their marriage. The family Passover answers many questions about this clandestine visitor, but the celebration turns deadly. Shahla is drawn into a war not her own, and the massacre leads to an unimaginable chain of events. When the Mossad and her trade craft fail, only faith remains. The Child is the first book of the Eagle and Child trilogy.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

S. Khubiar is a retired federal law enforcement officer. The author enjoys using fiction to explore multilayered themes drawn from work experience, religious observance, and the existential challenges to Persian immigrants in both America and Israel.

Although The Eagle & the Child trilogy is subtly infused with Passover themes, the new short story series is called “Skhubi Snacks.” Skhubi Snacks are centered around Jewish holidays, and the author likes to use wordplay to conceal a layer of meaning beneath the action. That wordplay opens up a sometimes-playful, yet sometimes-serious level of meaning to Jewish readers.

MUSIC MONDAY

I’ve also chosen to cross post my Monday “Movie” Book Trailer Swap with the lovely lady Lauren @AlwaysMe (blog) Drew @The Tattooed Book Geek (blog) @SarcasticEnigma (Twitter) and musical maestro Mischenko @readrantrockandroll.com (blog) @J_Mischenko (Twitter). Here are the rules:
Every Monday share one or two of songs you’ve been enjoying lately.  It doesn’t have to be a specific genre, new, or one of your favourites – just something you’d like to share with others.  If possible, share a music or lyric video of the song and your thoughts on the song(s), artist(s), and/or music video(s).

I asked the author this question: What is your favourite song, or playlist? The video below is his choice. “Asleep in the Bosom of Childhood” by Maureen Nehedar
