ABOUT THE BOOK

The Cut of the Clothes: A Story of Prinny and Beau Brummell

historical, drama, comedy, literary fiction, British, 19th century, 18th century

by Erato (Goodreads Author)
 4.5  ·  Rating details ·  Ratings  ·  Review
If clothes make the man —
what is left when he undresses?

Beau Brummell is the king of fashionable society, a fact which torments the eldest son of Mad King George, who would do anything to be the master of the mode. With the help of his secret Catholic wife and Dick the Dandy-Killer, the rakish Prince has everything required to ruin his rival fashionisto. Will His Royal Highness survive the obsession, or will he be destroyed by his own yearning to outdo the Beau?

This honest tale of the Georgian/Regency era reveals the charm and cattiness of the two “first gentlemen” of one of history’s best-dressed moments. From Brummell’s ditzy quips of “Brummelliana” to the Prince’s overdramatic lamentations, the reader is sure to be swept up in a sparkling and humorous world of fashion, passion and jealousy.

MUSIC MONDAY

I’ve also chosen to cross post my Monday “Movie” Book Trailer Swap with the lovely lady Lauren @AlwaysMe (blog) Drew @The Tattooed Book Geek (blog) @SarcasticEnigma (Twitter) and musical maestro Mischenko @readrantrockandroll.com (blog) @J_Mischenko (Twitter). Here are the rules:
Every Monday share one or two of songs you’ve been enjoying lately.  It doesn’t have to be a specific genre, new, or one of your favourites – just something you’d like to share with others.  If possible, share a music or lyric video of the song and your thoughts on the song(s), artist(s), and/or music video(s).

Sassy: Do you have a playlist?

Erato: I often associate Mozart’s overture to Apollo et Hyacinthus with this story, and I did listen to it at times during the composition. I listened to a great deal of Mozart when writing Cut of the Clothes.

Monday Motivation:

Sassy: I find it’s absolutely amazing Mozart was only 12 when he composed this!! It’s so hard for me to take in. Whether you’re a classical music fan or not, that fact alone is awesome. What a genius he was!

Check out past Monday Movie posts and all the great trailers already shared here. Indie authors are more than welcome!

  1. jhohadli – Writer. Editor. Writing Coach. Workshop facilitator. book lover. mango lover. music lover. Carnival lover. sunset lover. travel lover. Long story short, lover of all things sweet and good. I don't like melee and gossip, but I do like a good story, well told. I try to do both in my books (The Boy from Willow Bend, Dancing Nude in the Moonlight: 10th Anniversary Edition and Other Writings, Oh Gad!, Fish Outta Water, Musical Youth, With Grace, as well as all my poems and stories): tell good stories, well.
