Waiting on Wednesday / Can’t Wait Wednesday
Can’t-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted here, at Wishful Endings, and my version is a mix of what I’m waiting to read, whether it’s a new release that is not out yet, or an older book on my TBR shelf, which I really want to read but haven’t got around to it yet.
Here’s my ‘Can’t wait to read’, book for this week:
From Amazon
The Institute Hardcover – 10 Sep 2019 by Stephen King (Author)
Deep in the woods of Maine, there is a dark state facility where kids, abducted from across the United States, are incarcerated. In the Institute they are subjected to a series of tests and procedures meant to combine their exceptional gifts – telepathy, telekinesis – for concentrated effect.
Luke Ellis is the latest recruit. He’s just a regular 12-year-old, except he’s not just smart, he’s super-smart. And he has another gift which the Institute wants to use…
Far away in a small town in South Carolina, former cop Tim Jamieson has taken a job working for the local sheriff. He’s basically just walking the beat. But he’s about to take on the biggest case of his career.
Back in the Institute’s downtrodden playground and corridors where posters advertise ‘just another day in paradise’, Luke, his friend Kalisha and the other kids are in no doubt that they are prisoners, not guests. And there is no hope of escape.
But great events can turn on small hinges and Luke is about to team up with a new, even younger recruit, Avery Dixon, whose ability to read minds is off the scale. While the Institute may want to harness their powers for covert ends, the combined intelligence of Luke and Avery is beyond anything that even those who run the experiments – even the infamous Mrs Sigsby – suspect.
Thrilling, suspenseful, heartbreaking, THE INSTITUTE is a stunning novel of childhood betrayed and hope regained.

Heartbreaking certainly has me on edge for this one! I hope you enjoy it !
Yes! Totally. I cannot wait.
Obviously LOL
I featured this one on my Top Ten Tuesday list yesterday. This is certainly a different cover than the one in the US. I like it but man, they are REALLY different. Hope we both end up loving this one!
OMG I am coming over to check it out – it’s amazing how different covers can be!
Can you believe I’ve never read a Stephen King book before? I probably need to remedy that! This one sounds really good. Hope you enjoy it! 🙂
Ooh cool cover. He’s still putting out interesting books, looks like.
Thank you, i can only hope! There was one of his newer booksI didn’t like! lol I just couldn’t get into it. This sounds better. 🙂
Maybe this will be the first Stephe King I actually have the courage to pick up?
You should try Louise! His books started out much more based in the horror genre, but he has moved away from that in many of his books. Not all of them though! (Originally his true horror books were like ‘Carrie’, which — if you’ve ever watched the film(s) you’ll know — is pretty horrific and has an underlying theme of blood… ) Most have a fantasy element to them too.
I like that there is hope for the kids. And I hope you enjoy it. I’m undecided yet as to whether I’ll read it or not. My WoW
Yes it’s sounds like a SK book, only perhaps different? LOL I know that makes sense to me… 😀
Very nice! I can never keep up with what books he puts out! Lol. I hope you enjoy this one!
Thanks for visiting my WoW!
I know, I got a bit behind with his books too! Makes you realise how fast he can bash them out! lol You’re welcome!
Oooh! It’s been awhile since I last read a Stephen King book! Great pick!
Thanks! Maybe this will be the one? 🙂
I hope you end of loving this one. I’ve only read a couple of books by him and enjoyed both. Happy reading!
Thanks Alicia! Yes fingers crossed, this will be one of his better ones. You should try some more of his! 🙂
Stephen King seems to be back on a roll lately! For a few years there I just wasn’t as impressed with his newer stuff, but then I got back into it with The Outsider. Now I’m curious about what this one will bring!
So am I really curious about this one. I agree he is back on a roll, and hopefully it will continue! Do authors ever retire? I hope not lol
King and this story sounds so good! I’m adding it to my TBR! Thanks for sharing 🙂
That’s fantastic news, Lindy! Glad to add to your piles lol x
I have hopes that this will be like some of his older works. Those are my favorites.
I do know exactly what you mean! I actually have one book of his that was DNF and that horrifies me when I consider myself a fan! Lisbet’s Story? Something like that.
I’ve been so far out of the Stephen King loop for awhile, but this sounds like a return to his type of stories that I used to love. Great pick!
