HAPPY FRIDAY!

Welcome to this week’s Book Beginning and Friday56 choice… it’s a sad one, as we have come to book 13 The End.

On a positive note, we will be back to take a FINAL LOOK at THE INCOMPLETE HISTORY OF SECRET ORGANIZATIONS (Pictured below) to completely end this 14 week series of posts. Enjoy!

Continuing with my ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’ Friday Theme (here’s last Friday’s post) I am now on to the next book in the series…

The Incomplete History of Secret Organizations: An Utterly Unreliable Account of Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events on Alternative-Read.com

Why? I received the lovely book The Incomplete History of Secret Organizations by Joe Tracz (book pictured above) to review and realised I just had to watch the Netflix TV series, which I am now doing, at the same time as reading all the books!

So without further ado… I present…

Dear Reader,

You have undoubtedly picked up this book by mistake, so please put it down. Nobody in their right mind would read this particular book about the lives of Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire on purpose, because each dismal moment of their stay in the village of V.F.D. has been faithfully and dreadfully recorded in these pages.

I can think of no single reason why anyone would want to open a book containing such unpleasant matters as migrating crows, an angry mob, a newspaper headline, the arrest of innocent people, the Deluxe Cell, and some very strange hats. It is my solemn and sacred occupation to research each detail of the Baudelaire children’s lives and write them all down, but you may prefer to do some other solemn and sacred thing, such as reading another book instead.

In The End, the siblings face a fearsome storm, a suspicious beverage, a herd of wild sheep, an enormous bird cage, and a truly haunting secret about the Baudelaire parents.

With all due respect,

Lemony Snicket

Are you unlucky enough to own all 13 adventures? Yep, I am going to bore you share my Lemony Snicket love and devotion — ten more times! You lucky things, you! If you don’t want to read them all by then, well, I give up! lol

Book 1 – The Bad Beginning (The Friday 56 post).

Book 2 – The Reptile Room (last Friday’s Friday56 Post)

Book 3 – The Wide Window  (last Friday56 post)

Book 4 – The Miserable Mill (last Friday’s Friday56 post)

Book 5 – The Austere Academy (My Friday’s Friday56 post)

Book 6 – The Ersatz Elevator (My Friday56 post)

Book 7 – The Vile Village (My Friday56 Post)

Book 8 – The Hostile Hospital (My Friday56 Post)

Book 9 – The Carnivorous Carnival (My Friday56 Post)

Book 10 – The Slippery Slope (My Friday 56)

Book 11 – The Grim Grotto (My Friday 56)

Book 12 – The Penultimate Peril (My Friday 56)

Book 13 – The End

And what about All the Wrong Questions? In this four-book series a 13-year-old Lemony chronicles his dangerous and puzzling apprenticeship in a mysterious organisation that nobody knows anything about:

‘Who Could That Be at This Hour?’

‘When Did you Last See Her?’

‘Shouldn’t You Be in School?’

‘Why is This Night Different from All Other Nights?’

Lemony Snicket was born before you were and is likely to die before you as well. He was born in a small town where the inhabitants were suspicious and prone to riot. He grew up near the sea and currently lives beneath it. Until recently, he was living somewhere else.

Brett Helquist was born in Ganado, Arizona, grew up in Orem, Utah, and now lives in New York City. He earned a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Brigham Young University and has been illustrating ever since. His art has appeared in many publications, including Cricket magazine and The New York Times.

My First Thoughts?

In The End, the siblings face a fearsome storm, a suspicious beverage, a herd of wild sheep, an enormous bird cage, and a truly haunting secret about the Baudelaire parents.

It’s a sad time, but also very exciting I will soon get to see how it all ends and I cannot wait to finish this one!

Is the beginning making you wonder what the rest of the story will be like?

  1. fuonlyknew – Voracious reader and love to do reviews. Will review yours! Love Doritos and chocolate. A fan of furry friends. I'm afraid of things that go bump in the night! I do reviews at request when time allows. Prefer print versions but also will do ebooks. If I can stand to let them go, I use some print review copies for giveaways.. Also like doing ARC reviews to promote authors and their books. I encourage authors to comment. My reviews are posted on my blog, Amazon, Goodreads, Shelfari, Smashwords and Barnes&Noble.

I’ve been enjoying these books. The writing sucks me right in and I hope to read them sometime.

    1. Thank you! Yes, there is kind of melody to the way he writes! Hope do you get to read them!

    1. Absolutely, I was waiting for someone to mention that lol Might be the longest starting sentence I’ve personally come across too.

  2. That beginning is great, so descriptive, and makes me even more eager to read the whole series. Thanks for sharing! Hope you have an awesome weekend! 🙂

  3. Carla – Canada – I am a retired teacher/librarian. I love to read, especially to my grandchildren. I read most genres, but lately have gravitated to cozy mysteries, romance (not erotic) and Christian Fiction. I do enjoy a good thriller every now and then, as well as some fantasy and the odd sci-fi. I have ventured into Blog tours, but I do not do well reading under pressure. I travel to Florida for 2 to 3 months in the winter (Canadian Snowbirder) but otherwise live in Windsor, Ontario Canada. Feel free to follow and comment on my blog. I try to respond to all comments.
