Welcome to Alternative-Read.com
I’m delighted to help host this book tour with author Allie Boniface. We start with a fun guest post and then onto the books!

Sassy Brit: What do you think about the current publishing market?
Allie Boniface : Since I’ve been writing for publication for almost 20 years, it’s been really interesting to see how the market has changed over time. It used to be, you needed a publisher and/or an agent to get your book published. It also used to be that e-books were the scourge of the literary world — now almost everyone reads on some kind of electronic device! (Except me, I think…I still prefer to read books in hand). Indie publishing has been a game changer for authors. There aren’t gate-keepers anymore who decide what gets published. You have an idea? Write it! There are a zillion support groups and how-to guides for how to publish online, and sites like Amazon, Draft2Digital, Apple, Kobo, Smashwords, and Google Play make it oh-so-easy to do so. Of course, one thing about the ease of indie publishing is that there are SO MANY MORE books out there now for readers to choose from. The market is definitely more crowded, so it’s harder to stand out as well. Trends develop and change and disappear quickly. It can be discouraging for new authors to find an audience or to gain traction. But, as has always been the case, great stories will continue to stand out. Write a great story, and you’ll find your readers!
SB: Day in the life of you as a writer!
AB : I’m actually a full-time public school teacher, so writing is my side gig, for now. I try to do something related to my writing every day, whether that’s actually getting words on the page or working on edits or sending off a request to my cover artist or reading through Facebook group posts for advice and guidance. I used to put a lot of pressure on myself and compare myself to other writers who were putting out 5-10 or more books a year, and I got pretty discouraged. Now I remind myself that I am also working to shape students’ lives and futures every day, that I am fortunate to have a fulltime job that pays the bills so I can write as a true passion. And every book I complete and publish is a milestone, and I am truly grateful for that.
