My Thoughts:
Hopefully, above, you can actually see my Instagram picture!
Reading this book was like a breath of fresh air and it really resonated with me. The main character’s voice was fun to read, even though she is going through lot of turmoil. The author’s style of writing really fits the main character, Lux. I mean, just read that first line again —
“I will find the old lux and when I do I will climb back inside her and sew myself into her skin so I never get lost again”.
It’s totally provides the theme for the book and made me instantly want to read it.
I have just finished it and really enjoyed how there were indeed similarities to Sylvia Plath’s The Bell Jar only for young adults in a special school for artists. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will write up my review shortly.
It’s my current read and I regularly update my reading process over at Goodreads! Do join me. I know I say this a lot, but I really love Goodreads lol.

Friday 56:
With Fredasvoice @fredalicious and on Instagram as @fredasphotos #Friday56
As you can see this book went everywhere with me!
Blurb:
‘Since I blacked out, the slightest thing seems to aggravate my brain and fill it with fire’
These are the things Lux knows:
She is an Artist.
She is lucky.
She is broken.
These are the things she doesn’t know:
What happened over the summer.
Why she ended up in hospital.
Why her memories are etched in red.
‘The nightmares tend to linger long after your screams have woken you up …’
Desperate to uncover the truth, Lux’s time is running out. If she cannot piece together the events of the summer and regain control of her fractured mind, she will be taken away from everything and everyone she holds dear.
If her dreams don’t swallow her first.
I can’t wait to find out!
Have a great weekend full of reading.
Luv Sassy

Wow! I love both the book beginning and page 56, I definitely want to read this book now!
Sounds like a very moving read.
This one does sound tempting! I loved The Bell Jar. Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.

This sounds intriguing and completely unlike my usual reads. I am featuring The Hunt by Chloe Neill this week. Happy reading!
Lux sounds like a fascinating character. I love the description of sewing herself back into her skin. Clever.
Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog post.

That’s first line! Thanks for sharing!
Hi Sassy,
Like yourself, I found that very first line to be the most mesmerising, with that definite ‘must keep reading’ quality.
The premise is totally amazing, especially this line near to the end …
‘The nightmares tend to linger long after your screams have woken you up …’
I was most surprised to discover that this book was published by Hodder Children’s Books, so it would be interesting to share your views on it taking that into account.
Probably not one I would choose to read, but an excellent book as a meme or book club selection.
Happy Reading 🙂
Yvonne
That first line is beautiful. Hope you enjoy your weekend!
