Friday 56:

Hopefully, above, you can actually see my Instagram pictures! On Instagram you have to swipe to see all the pictures, since I clumped together both my Book Beginnings and Friday56 posts.
Just in case you can’t see beyond the first photo, here’s the Friday 56 sentence below:

My First Thoughts:
Timeless is a beautiful book, covering hair and make-up from the early 1900s to the late 1990s. I’d say it’s suitable for anyone into fashion and make-up. In addition this would be great for make-up artist and hairdressers and anyone wanting to go a party in fancy dress looking like someone out of a specific time period. And on the coffee table? Well, it would definitely get people talking! Whatever age you are, this is bound to fascinate.
Timeless: A Century of Iconic Looks
by Louise Young, Loulia Sheppard
Blurb:
The definitive step-by-step guide to recreating the most striking make-up and hair styles of the 20th century.
Timeless is a beauty bible for the golden ages of style from renowned film, television and make-up artist Louise Young, along with leading film industry hairstylist Loulia Sheppard.
Step-by-step photography and clear, concise instructions help you to recreate make-up and hair looks from the past 100 years of beauty, from the dark, smouldering eyes of the jazz-age flapper to the red lips and victory rolls of the 1940s, right up to the electric colours of the 1980s and beyond.
Accurate, practical and beautiful, this is the ultimate guide to the most classic looks of all time.
Between them, Louise and Loulia have provided make-up and hair styling for stars such as Scarlett Johansson, Keira Knightley and Selma Hayek, and on films including Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Pride and Prejudice, Florence Foster Jenkins, Anna Karenina and The Duchess, among many others.
I can’t wait to find out!
Have a great weekend full of reading. Hope you’ve got lots of things lined up that you are looking forward to.

I haven’t heard of this book before. I bet it would be useful to actors and theater groups. This week I have Breath of Fire by Amanda Bouchet. Happy reading!
Yes, it would! It’s a very useful book! Oh, Amanda Bouchet… popping over!
I think this sounds fascinating. In all the years I’ve being doing my own make-up, I don’t think I ever did it right. Matched the right colors and tones, blending and shading.
Yes, with this they actually give you the make-up tones and effects (along with the hairstyles) for each period. Like the 90s was very bright and garish. It’s really interesting and beautifully laid out.
I love the look of the makeup on these models…and reading the book would be interesting. Thanks for sharing…and for visiting my blog.
You’re welcome! I always enjoy blog hopping around. 🙂
Interesting. I gave up wearing makeup a long time ago. Au naturel…lol
