Phillipa is an independent woman in a society dominated by males. She is a messenger, and delivers urgent missives even in the face of danger. She values her ability to take care of herself with out needing to rely on a man to support her. An accident knocks her unconscious and she dreams of a hero to rescue her from the winter snows that will kill her. Luther shared the dream with her and knew she was in trouble. He was a horseman, a Fighting Carrier who was living in seclusion while trying to recover emotionally from a devastating accident that almost took his life. The shared dream meant they were destined to be mates for life. Could she give up her independence and learn to commit to a strong protective mate? And could she heal him and help him regain the confidence need to continue his work?

A tender story, of passion, romance, and healing love. The concept of a horseman certainly did not spark any initial feelings of romance but as I read of this remarkable species of shape-shifter, half horse half man with wings to fly I was intrigued and captivated at the same time. From their warm blooded passion, to the majestic flying protector I am drawn into this fantasy and compelled to see it to the end. With great story telling and amazing characters it is heart warming to the end.
