REVIEW: WEBROOT Internet Security Essentials

If only Swine Flu was this easy to cure!

Webroot Internet Security Essentials does what is says on the box and is ‘The security you need without slowing you down.’

I’ve tested programmes like this before, and found this one easy to install and set up schedules for computer sweeps; scans of virus’ and pop up spyware that could be laying in the background of your computer literally taking notes of your surfing habits and recording them.

When you install this software from the disc included you get a year’s service, telephone support and automatic security updates from VersionGuard to keep your PC secure. I have waited for a couple of weeks to write this review, in order to make sure I could report any problems this programme caused after installing and using it for this period of time. I am pleased to say that I have not come across any, which is great.

Webroot also offers a backup online storage for 2GB of your photos and other valuable files. This is quite a lot, but not enough for those with a huge amount of files, so more GB’s can be purchased at a fairly cheap rate, if required.

It also says that it can protect up to 3 PC’s, which is quite refreshing – normally this is not the case.

All in all, this appears to be a good antivirus and antispyware programme and an effective way of protecting your computer, which didn’t cause my computer any other problems as some in the past have done. In fact, I caught a virus last night. No, I’m not ill! A couple of clicks it was quarantined and then deleted from my computer. Now I can sleep easy, with no menthol crystals in sight!
