The Internet Escort’s Handbook Book 1: The Foundation is the first book of a series and possibly the first of its kind. This ingenious idea has been put together in a well prepared, easy to understand and concise manner by ex-stripper and independent internet escort, Amanda Brooks. It is clear that she knows what she is talking about as she has been through it all, so she is just the right person to share her expertise in this field.
In this edition Amanda talks about the mental, emotional and physical aspects of escort work. Yes, it can be a rewarding and lucrative job, but in reality it is far more complex than it would first appear. There is much to take into consideration, and so she informs the reader of both the fun side, and the lesser-known pitfalls. Ms Brooks recommends treating this vocation as a business and goes on to further explain that if your business is your mind and your body, there are certain things you should know to keep yourself safe and in tip-top condition, both mentally and physically.
To begin with Ms. Brooks explains the myths of what escort work ‘is and what it isn’t’, providing useful definitions of the current terminology. She goes on to talk about what type of person you should be to be able to cope with such a role, giving you a candid view of what to expect and how to decide whether this is the right job for you.
Of course personal appearance is a major component of this role, but not the only thing to consider. I have to say, I thought it good of Amanda to point out that you don’t have to be the most beautiful woman in the world, since men do have many different, and sometimes strange preferences just as us girls do. To get the most out of this job, however, it does pay dividends if you look after your body and appearance. You are, after all, selling yourself and you are not going to get repeat clients if you don’t look after your personal hygiene, are you! These matters are some of the many things that should be noted before embarking on a journey like this.
Most importantly, section three is an in depth study of how to stay safe and how to define your personal boundaries, such as what to do if a client has a sexually transmitted disease (STD) or refuses to wear a condom. Getting these factors in order before starting out is just one of the ways to secure your safety. You are a professional and should be treated as such, but in order to do so, you must learn how and know what options are available to you.
The final section shows you how to research escort work, surfing the discussion boards online for friendly advice from other like-minded girls in the same profession. Other important factors include deciding which services you will employ and how. For example, should you offer incall services, where you provide the accommodation and whether you should charge extra for this? Or perhaps outcall services where you visit the client’s house, and even finding out what is considered acceptable for your area. Also explained is how there are far more dangers involved in going into a man’s territory, rather than providing a room in a hotel. Yet, equally, you take time to determine whether using your own home is a safe and workable solution.
As far as I can tell, everything you need to consider about keeping yourself safe, sane and healthy is covered in this book. The basics, yes, but it could literally be a lifesaver for anyone curious about whether internet escorting is the right choice, or indeed what protection is required to safeguard yourself and your business from failure and possible heartache. Do yourself a favour, if you are thinking of setting yourself up in this line of work, please read this book. Learn the tricks of the trade and separate the nice guys from the undesirables.
To be honest, if you enjoy this first manual, there is no doubt in my mind that you will also look forward to collecting the rest of this series, which goes into further detail about other aspects such as advertising, marketing and running your escort business with a professional and organised attitude.
With the inquisitive and cautious novice in mind this is indispensable guide, and one I believe all escorts, at whatever level, would benefit from. What an extremely sensible idea for a book!
