Selene was finally on the vacation she had dreamed about and saved for, working tirelessly and withholding small comforts for the intended reward of freedom. She was ready despite all the last minute wave of indecision. The Central American destination was perfect for her. She was looking for suspense, action, drama, or excitement, she was looking for herself.

For someone who wants to live life to the fullest on this holiday she spends an inordinate amount reflecting on the past, while actually on holiday. It might have been better to leave the internalizations at home. A amount of large vocabulary made it a little slow and difficult to read. The also seem to be a lot of British slang that may put off some American readers, but I enjoyed them a lot. In general the story moves rather slow with more internal debate than actual dialogue between characters.
