She gave him what she should have saved for her husband and when he betrayed her, Cassie Fitzgerald left everything behind and for six years tried to pretend that her life was her own. Now she’s returned to take care of her mother’s estate and funeral, but plans to keep a wide berth between her and Griffin; so much for plans. Not even him being suspected of killing her sister, his wife Diane can make her traitorous heart forget.

With a bad boy reputation that overwhelms the fact of his basic integrity, Griffin Hunter has waited six long years for the opportunity to explain his side of things to Cassie. When not even the murder of his wife brought her home, he wasn’t sure he’d ever get the chance, but her obligations to her mother gave him one shot to make her listen.

A man with a past, a woman betrayed, too many people hiding too many things, murder, and hearts that simply refuse to listen to the minds makes for an absolutely intriguing suspense filled read with twists and turns aplenty. I adored the depth given to each character, the true to life relationship and the sublime lovemaking that simply made me shiver. It was a delicate exploration of regaining trust after it’s been shattered. A definite top shelf.
