Theron’s Boys by Kiernan Kelly

Christian is one of six of the current crop of “boys” who belong body and soul to Theron. If he’d known he’d still be poor, as well as unable to endure the sun, he probably wouldn’t have taken Theron’s “gift” . Yeah…to be honest, he would have.

Only now it’s time to get out from under the thumb of their sire who considers them less than cattle. I found this a thoughtful look at how even immortality would suck if slavery were the future, and what people might be willing to do to escape it. In case anyone’s asking, the sex in this story is really hot.

Inferno by Matt Brooks

Blaise is not human, but not vampire. He has been left to linger between, but if he doesn’t finish becoming, he will soon waste away and die. Robert is willing to help him finish the process and in so doing finds a mate. I found this a sweet tale of “my brother’s keeper”, vamp style, with emphasis on “you never know where love may find you”.

Chiaroscuro by Erastes

Michel di Posco is a painter chosen to paint Yuri, a man who seems to always be surrounded by a golden glow of light. Michel is an amazing talent who has found his greatest challenge and unexpected love in the same person.

When does love become trust and vice versa, but more importantly, how does one truly define what constitutes a monster? In reading this story, I found it not only entertaining, but thought-provoking. And, of course, there were those great, steamy sex scenes…

Immortal Steps by Kira Stone

Dancing has been Tain O’Halloran’s life for as long as he can remember. He was devastated by the loss of Kale Lowe who had instructed him for years, but has still risen rapidly in his profession. Now his body has begun to behave strangely and he doesn’t know why.

Kyle Lohan (AKA Kale Lowe) has waited a lifetime—Tain’s, that is—for the changing of Tain’s body from human to vampire. He means to be the partner to facilitate that final phase. All he has to do now is convince Tain that these orchestrated events were necessary to protect him.

The concept of how far one will go in the name of love was threaded throughout this story, and I must say the thought of recombinant DNA which would allow any human the chance to change is most intriguing. There are some fantastic sex scenes, but that wouldn’t be as interesting as the chance to be rid of disease. Would I take that chance? You betcha! I’m a night person anyway.
