Being rescued was great; finding out your life mate is your rescuer is a totally different reality. After being amongst nothing but Lionese shifters Maryann Wilson was surprised to find herself mated to the merman Prince of Manruvia with a possible civil war looming large on the horizon.

Rescuing people from the vicious Black Rose, the last thing High Prince Mikel Logann expected was to find the one person he’s been waiting centuries for- his mate. To top it off she was a human female. Protagonists on his home world have exacerbated civil unrest and now he’s wondering if either of them will remain alive to rule.

I thoroughly enjoyed the way this one showed respect and compassion, gentleness, and total love in the interwoven events that make this a tale to keep. One captured, tortured and defenceless female who is shown that sometimes even a male can be vulnerable in love. War, bad nasties, treachery, wow sex and gentle humor make this a well-rounded moving story.
