Being an Adept has it’s perks, but for Lieutenant Velvet Meadows it has one major drawback; she’s turned off her emotions after witnessing the deaths of her comrades and doesn’t know if she wants them back on. After taking a chance and letting Graham close, she finds that he may have betrayed her and the door slams against him.

Thinking Velvet is a snob and a challenge, Lieutenant Graham Hamm (almost sounds like his own picnic, hmmm!) is determined to “take her down”. Then he falls for her, but his plan is discovered and he becomes persona non grata with the lovely Velvet. It’s going to take her trust of another man to help him win back his place in her heart.

While hiding numerous secrets, Lieutenant Jed Castille has become ensnared by one Velvet Meadows, but knows she’s also drawn to his biggest rival Graham. During a dangerous mission to destroy an enemy of Spaceforce he works to resolve the enmity between the two.

This series just keeps getting better. Adepts , eYonans , Earthers, aliens, danger, some really incredible sex and you get a great read. It grabbed my attention on the first page and at the end left me wanting more. The women are strong, while the pairing of the men is interesting in that while one is totally alpha, the other seems an alpha / beta mix which is the more “rational” at times. For me it makes the story as it makes the three totally interwoven. Love it, Ms Hayes.
