A survivor of torture, enslavement, and attempted rape, Lara bat Karan, is rescued and returned to her father. She is the “Chosen One” of the prophecy, who will help to destroy Dogon the abuser. The mage who is to train her is not what she expects, however. Instead of a wizened elf of a man, Sha’ul is young, tall, warrior-trained, and absolutely gorgeous. For the first time, Lara experiences a pulse of desire for a man. All she had felt before was fear.

At thirty-two years of age, sword wielding mage Sha’ul has no idea the extent to which his life is about to change. Master trainer to the Chosen One, he molds her with patience, strength of purpose, and love. Lara is both fragile from her tribulations and strong in her determination to overcome. In time she will become the weapon needed to rid the world of the evil incarnate that is Dogon.

This is the tale of a woman born to destroy evil, and the man born to teach her how. Sha’ul loves her enough to follow Lara in her struggle, giving up his powers—and even his life, if need be. I found this an engrossing story from start to finish. I particularly liked the manner in which the members of the council helped to keep their “human” emotions somewhat intact. Though the sex is totally incredible, it was the strength of the love bond and what lengths Lara and Sha’ul would go to both for each other and their world that I thought the best part of the story.
