Derek, though born of the merrow is drawn to live in the human world. Selfish and arrogant as the young often are he doesn’t realize that Kellen truly loves him. Leaving the ocean with no word is not only cowardly, but a brutal way to sever their relationship.
Kellen is the one left behind and after ten years has the means to give back a measure of the pain he’d been dealt by Derek’s betrayal. Bitterness, anger, love and hate all vie for dominance when he tells Derek,
” I have what you lost” .
Tad is an inactive, but very key component in that it was he that accepted, loved and helped Derek to adjust to the land life of man. He is also the catalyst for the confrontation between Kellen and Derek.
I have to say to J. M. Snyder that I was neither offended or displeased at what I read in this story. In fact I found it to be a complex blending of love, jealousy, sensually erotic love scenes and lastly acceptance that tugged at my heart. To me this is a good example of “the heart loves where it will”. Good reading and great fun.
About the Author:
Basically, I live to write. I’m always working on a story, or mulling over an idea, or dreaming up a new plot, new characters, new settings. Everything is inspiration to me. I find inspiration in songs, in strangers, in odd phrases that make me think what might happen if …? There isn’t a time when I’m not writing, or thinking about writing. It’s just who I am.
