How do you live with not just guilt, but the betrayal of the love sworn between two people? It’s not easy as Leigh knows from bitter experience. Having loved Jim’s brother Tre for the past ten years, she’s truly not ready to face him even though a family tragedy makes it imperative. Somehow she must harden her heart or she might not survive.
Does a man ever learn to harden his heart against the woman he believes betrayed the love she said she felt for him? He’d better if he ever hopes to survive the upcoming meeting of the family during a crisis. But maybe things aren’t always what they’ve been portrayed, particularly if lies came from others, rather than the ones thought to have said them.
Conspiracy, selfishness, fear, betrayal, hope, unshakable faith and an enduring love are the basic ingredients in this tale, written with a wonderfully keen insight into just how possessive and heartless some people seem to be and the havoc they can create. I loved the vulnerability given to both characters as they struggled to find their way out of the morass left behind by interfering people. With some scrumptious lovemaking thrown in, this one is an absolute must have hot read.
