Please Welcome Elise Cooper to Alternative-Read

Cooper_ Elise

Dear Elise,

SB: Thank you for joining us at Alternative-Read.com, it’s a pleasure to have you on board. We’re really enjoying your author interviews and reviews, so I thought what better way to introduce you to our readers than to interview you myself.

EC: Thank you for the opportunity.  I am glad to be a part of Alternative-Read.

SB: My first question would have to be bookish, what are your favourite genres?

EC: I am all over the place.  I love mysteries, thrillers, women’s fiction, romance-suspense, some biographies.  But if you pressed me I would say mysteries and thrillers.

SB: Now, I know this can be a tough question, as there are so many to choose from, but which authors do you admire the most?

EC: You really want to get me into trouble.  This is a hard one.  My all time favourite is Vince Flynn, and now Kyle Mills because I love the characters so much.  My all time favourite character is Dr. Irene Kennedy.

I also love Nelson DeMille because he blends action, current events, and humor.

On the romance side Julie James, Cynthia Eden, and Katharine Ashe.  They blend a great mystery within a touch of romance and the stories are very realistic and believable.  Also, the heroine and hero are equals in their books.

SB: If all books were banned and you were limited to only keep one for yourself, which book would you chose and why?

EC: Hands down Gone With The Wind.  I think it is a classic and a great way for readers to learn about the Civil War.  The characters are so well-developed and the writing makes a reader feel as if they are there.

SB: Favourite book quote?

EC: Frankly my dear I don’t give a damn.

SB: Ha! Good one! If you were to pick one famous person, living or dead, to go the cinema with, who would it be and which film would you watch?

EC: Marlene Dietrich to watch Gone With The Wind.

SB: What one item could you not live without?

EC: My wedding ring.

SB: So romantic!

Do you have a day job?

EC: I live in Los Angeles, CA and have all my life.  It is not the great city Hollywood makes it out to be.  It is dirty, overcrowded, and has way too much traffic, but I can’t leave because of the weather.  I have worked as a math teacher for over fifteen years, but last year left my job.  This year I am working part time as an in-house math tutor for a high school.

SB: Outside of reviewing and interviewing, what are your hobbies?

EC: I love watching sports.  Baseball is my passion, and I enjoy college basketball and college football.  I am a huge fan of my alma mater, UCLA.  I used to watch pro football but I am dismayed by the athletes’ actions so I have chosen not to watch it right now.

SB: Any pets?

EC: I just lost my six-year-old dog to cancer.  She was part German Shepherd and part Korean.  I am still having a tough time coping because they are like your children.

My other dog is a pure-bred lab who REALLY thinks she is our child.  She even talks (barks) back to us.

SB: Oh, I know exactly how that feels, we recently lost our 14 year old dog.  She was a Pointer cross and talked like anything. I don’t think you can ever get over it completely.  Co-incidentally, we’ve also got a pure-bred lab who is just like a baby!

Well, it’s been so much fun finding out more about you. Thank you for sharing a little more about yourself with our readers.

Once again, I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Alternative-Read.com and I do hope you enjoy your stay.
EC:  Thank you.  I am enjoying it immensely.
