Quick Explanation

Welcome to my 2nd #ThrowbackThursday review for this meme, today! I have quite a few reviews that I spotted I’d submitted to Amazon, but not Goodreads, because they vanished from Amazon!!! So I’m going back to find those reviews of books I know I’ve previously written. I’m also writing out new reviews for old books I know I’ve read, which should already be up on Amazon. Because I’m a bit OCD like that, and as a reviewer with a blog, I want to share all the books I’ve read with you!  Plus I like my stats and therefore want every book I’ve recorded included. Maybe this is just me? I like to be organised. 😉

My Review Writing Routine

I’ve got this habit. I read, writing notes as I go, and then type up my review.  The first place I post my review is on Amazon, and when that’s been accepted I add the review to Goodreads. This is not always instant, when it comes to Amazon. Pictures often slow the process down. Then I use the code from Goodreads to add my review to my blog. So when Amazon deleted a lot of reviews they never made it to Goodreads. (Rolls eyes).

Okay, so now it’s time to fight like a girl! Please read on and I’ll explain…

Moxie by Jennifer Mathieu on

It’s time to fight like a girl!

Vivian Carter is fed up. Fed up with her high school teachers who think the football team can do no wrong. Fed up with sexist dress codes, hallway harassment and gross comments from guys during class. But most of all, Viv Carter is fed up with always following the rules.

Viv’s mum was a tough-as-nails, punk rock Riot Grrrl in the ’90s, and now Viv takes a page from her mother’s past and creates Moxie, a feminist zine that she distributes anonymously to her classmates. She’s just blowing off steam, but other girls respond and spread the Moxie message. As Viv forges friendships with other young women across the divides of cliques and popularity rankings, she realises that what she has started is nothing short of a girl revolution.

A page-turning read with a feminist message, for anyone who has ever had to deal with #everydaysexism

Jennifer Mathieu
has written a strong book featuring a quiet girl, Vivian and her aversion to bullies. One day Viv, cannot put up with it anymore and takes it upon herself to make a stand, starting with a ‘zine she creates herself and distributes anonymously. It’s a small step with a big effect, because it doesn’t take long for things to snowball and soon Moxie becomes an empowering voice to be heard! And I’m not just saying fictional characters here. Every young girl should read this awesome, inspiring and captivating read!

Good for all of you who love the whole ‘girl power’ attitude, and like books which inspire and encourage you in real life to be the person you should be and stand up for yourself. For fledgling feminists everywhere! A fast-paced, bad-ass read full of action and great characterisation. Join the Moxie Movement! Have your say!

  1. fuonlyknew – Voracious reader and love to do reviews. Will review yours! Love Doritos and chocolate. A fan of furry friends. I'm afraid of things that go bump in the night! I do reviews at request when time allows. Prefer print versions but also will do ebooks. If I can stand to let them go, I use some print review copies for giveaways.. Also like doing ARC reviews to promote authors and their books. I encourage authors to comment. My reviews are posted on my blog, Amazon, Goodreads, Shelfari, Smashwords and Barnes&Noble.
