Hey Bibliomaniacs,
It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for my weekly spotlight features, “What’s on your desk, Wednesday?”, where we take a visit to see what’s on somebody’s desk and have a good old nose around. (No kidding!) So without further ado, let’s meet today’s desk, I mean guest…

Welcome to where stories are created, from the desk of author Michael Rowland!
Sassy Brit : Tell us about your writing routine:
Michael Rowland : My writing routine is different every day. It all depends on my mood. I have just finished writing and publishing on Amazon my new book, which is a true story based on seven friends who back in 1969 set off to Morocco for a holiday. ‘Morocco or bust August ’69.’
I broke into three manuscripts that I was editing to write this book, as I was one of the seven. The story has been taken from a journal that was written at the time by one of the others.
While I am in the process of writing a novel, I tend to go through it in my mind as I am laying in bed, and when I come to a point where I have been struggling with the plot, I tend to get out of bed, switch on my laptop and type away. Then I can’t stop.
After about an hour, I will move away from my laptop, sit down, and go over what I have written. It’s then when I come up with new words and situations. In fact, over the years, when I hear a word, such as ‘ripple’, I can put that word into a scene.
SB: What’s the weirdest thing on your desk?
MR: Sorry to disappoint you, but I don’t have anything on my desk. But I do have a group of Japanese Netsuke by my side, as you will see in one of the pictures.

SB: The most useful item?
MR: I have a copy of the Flip Dictionary by Barbara Ann Kipfer, which is very useful, along with The Writer’s Lexicon by Kathy Steinemann, The Writer’s Partner by Martin Roth, and Building Believable Characters by Marc McCucheon.
SB : Three words to describe your desk?
SB: Where can we find out more about you?
MR: My web site is www.danielmwarloch.com
Daniel M Warloch is an anagram of my real name, which is Michael Rowland.

Morocco or Bust August ’69
Fifty years ago this year, six friends and I were determined to get away from the predictable, miserable summer weather in Great Britain. We wanted to venture further afield for our holidays, travelling to a country where we were guaranteed blue sky, endless sunny days, warm nights, golden sand, Azure crystal waters, bikini clad bronze bodies, and ice-cold beers…To commemorate this once-in-a-lifetime holiday, I have recounted the incredible experiences from a journal written at the time by one of the seven, Steven Wilson, as we drove through the heart of France and Spain in 1969.
