ABOUT THE BOOK
BEAT THE BLOAT BY MAEVE MADDEN
Being honest about bloating is something Irish-born blogger Maeve Madden has never shied away from. In fact, her social media channels depict her real-life battle with IBS and PCOS, as well as adult acne. Her transparent, ‘no filter’ approach is a proven hit and she has gained her more than 147k Instagram followers as a result.
Our increasingly stressful lifestyles and poor diet choices means people are crying out for relatable, informative and inspirational advice. Beat Your Bloat covers Maeve’s personal journey to achieving a healthy lifestyle and shows how you too can transform your digestive health and fitness. Chapters cover Getting Started, Beating the Binge, Cut the Cravings and Rescue Remedies and provide guidance not only on how to beat bloating but also on achieving body positivity. The book also includes step-by-step HIIT and yoga workouts, plus 60 deliciously healthy recipes, many of which are vegan as well as gluten and dairy free, to help readers stay on track.
MY FIRST THOUGHTS
I have Crohn’s disease that is luckily in remission (why do they call these things diseases? Makes everything sound so much worse!) and although this book is not specific to Crohn’s I do like healthy eating / diet books that give me new ideas, to keep what I eat a little more varied. I often change the recipes to suit what I can eat, too. This makes them more suitable for my needs. This book is a mixture of health, beauty (she’s beautiful!) and exercise by Internet (Instagram) sensation @maeve_madden!
I also like books where people have not intended to become authors as such, but they’ve had a problem they needed to deal with and from helping others they’ve made a living out of it AND become successful.
Some recipes are also vegan, and gluten and dairy free!
HAVE YOU READ THIS?
I can’t wait to visit your blogs to find out. Have a great weekend, may your books be with you!

I need this book, ASAP!
I’m always on the opinion that i’m quite good with my diet and don’t eat “bad foods”, but being bloated regularly is still something i have issues with. :/
Fabulous, Norrie! Hope it helps you!
I also have Crohn’s; also in remission since my surgery in 2013. The problem I have with lots of healthy recipes is the amount of fiber. I tend to try to eat a low fiber diet. This week I am featuring Tsumiko and the Enslaved Fox by Forthright – an intriguing new fantasy. Happy reading!
The ‘no filter’ is refreshing and the recipe looks delicious. Quinoa, spinach, and sweet potato go together really well.
I see you have Stephen King’s On Writing in your pile. Good choices.
Thanks for sharing from a personal level, it helps make me relate to your reading choice. The Bear Bowl looks good. My Friday Quotes
You’re welcome! Thank you Anne I totally agree with you there.
That Bear Bowl looks yummy though…. 🙂 Happy weekend! x
I don’t usually read books like this. I’m more likely to read blog posts. Susan is wrapping up the month with a nonfiction book at Girl Who Reads
I like how she introduced herself at the beginning drew me right in.
