This week’s choice is…
Nothing to do with The Shining, but an axe is definitely needed on board this ship! (Although, Stephen King is mentioned…)
Blood Cruise: A thrilling summer chiller from the Swedish Stephen King
‘I will never set foot on a cruise ship again!’ – Åsa Larsson, bestselling author of The Second Deadly Sin and Until thy Wrath Be Past
On the Baltic Sea, no one can hear you scream.
Tonight, twelve hundred expectant passengers have joined the booze-cruise between Sweden and Finland. The creaking old ship travels this same route, back and forth, every day of the year.
But this trip is going to be different.
In the middle of the night the ferry is suddenly cut off from the outside world. There is nowhere to escape. There is no way to contact the mainland. And no one knows who they can trust.
Welcome aboard the Baltic Charisma.
‘Blood Cruise is terrifying and terrifying real, a must-read for fans of Stephen King and John Ajvide Lindqvist’ – Elizabeth Hand, author of Generation Loss and Hard Light

MY FIRST THOUGHTS
I originally featured this as one of my Can’t Wait Wednesday specials! Here’s what I said!
Well, I’ve never been on a cruise ship and it’s not likely I’ll want to go on one after reading this! haha!
This could definitely be a brilliant horror film, although I do like the way we get inside the characters minds and find out about their backgrounds and what sort of person they are, before all hell breaks loose, so to make that come across well they’d need to do plenty of flashbacks! Yeah, in fact, just ask me to direct it – I know what this movie needs!!!
Am I loving it?
Hell yeah! This is just what I’d hoped it would be, and so really well done, and I don’t mean like steak, although, there was quite a lot of blood thirsty chomping going on some really rare steaks…
It’s a huge book, but I enjoyed it so much I read it super-fast! I’ll add my review up here shortly.
Don’t you love a book that beats your already high expectations?

I’m intrigued by it all. I added you to the Linky. Happy weekend!
Oh you were sitting in spam… quite odd lol Thanks for adding me. I’ve had a few health issues lately but will soon be on the mend and playing Friday56 again. 🙂
I need to check this out. I read another book that took place on a cruise ship, Adrift. Wicked good!
Oh dear. I’d better not suggest this one to my mother-in-law before she goes cruising next year!
I have enjoyed mysteries set on cruise ships…but they put me off every going on a cruise! Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.
I love cruises and have been on too many to count. I’m willing to give this one a try, but if it gets too gory I might have to put it down so I don’t spoil my cruise memories or put bad thoughts in my mind for future cruises,
I don’t like the idea of cruises and this book would definitely back me up! Think of being stuck in the middle of the ocean with people you don’t want to be near or trust! Nightmare!
LOL Yes, Harvee! It’s a thought that crossed my mind a lot after read this… 🙂 Thanks for stopping by! Just found your comment in spam, no idea why?
I love books set on a cruise ship and I love thrillers, so this sounds like my kind of read.
For some reason I thought that this was going to be more of a short story, so was more than a little surprised to see the almost 600 page count! – Maybe I was blinded by the part of the premise where this was described as an overnight cruise.
Cruising has never appealed to me, as I neither like the water (I can’t swim so fear drowning), nor the idea of being trapped in such a confined space for any length of time, with people I may not care for.
This is therefore one book I probably shouldn’t be reading, but it does sound so good and is definitely heading for my ‘Want To Read’ list.
Thanks for sharing and enjoy the rest of your weekend 🙂

Ooh, this sounds like a chilling read! I’ve never wanted to go on a cruise before and I’m pretty sure this book would reinforce that! Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Oh dear, I am not a big horror officienado, so I think I will pass on this one, but I am glad you are enjoying it.
I love your bookmark! And the book looks good too. It wouldn’t put me off a cruise.
This sounds awesome! And I like your the Shining funko, haha 🙂

Looks like the perfect book for this time of year. I can’t wait to pick up all the horror books next month.
This sounds like a great book!! 🙂
