FRIDAY FINDS: Meridian-Amber Kizer, Holly’s Inbox by H. Denham and The Giver by Lois Lowry

Hosted by Mizb17 !

This week my Friday Finds are:

Meridian by Amber Kizer Found on Taschima Cullen‘s blog. Thanks!

Half-human, half-angel, Meridian Sozu has a dark responsibility.
Sixteen-year-old Meridian has been surrounded by death ever since she can remember. As a child, insects, mice, and salamanders would burrow into her bedclothes and die. At her elementary school, she was blamed for a classmate’s tragic accident. And on her sixteenth birthday, a car crashes in front of her family home—and Meridian’s body explodes in pain.
Before she can fully recover, Meridian is told that she’s a danger to her family and hustled off to her great-aunt’s house in Revelation, Colorado. It’s there that she learns that she is a Fenestra—the half-angel, half-human link between the living and the dead. But Meridian and her sworn protector and love, Tens, face great danger from the Aternocti, a band of dark forces who capture vulnerable souls on the brink of death and cause chaos.

Holly’s Inbox – by Holly Denham.
My thanks goes to Yvonne at for this beauty!

This is about a woman striking up a love affair at the office she works at and the whole book is written in email format. I must be quite voyeuristic because this really attracts me! LOL

on the only product description are two short reviews:

Heat magazine
‘A hilarious delve into someone else’s daily life’

Closer magazine
‘Compulsive reading’

One more!

Thanks to Pizza‘s friend Zakk I found this: The Giver by Lois Lowry

Taken from Wiki!

It is set in a future society which is at first presented as a utopian society and gradually appears more and more dystopian; therefore, it could be considered anti-utopian. The novel follows a boy named Jonas through the twelfth year of his life. The society has eliminated pain and strife by converting to “Sameness”, a plan which has also eradicated emotional depth from their lives. Jonas is selected to inherit the position of “Receiver of Memory,” the person who stores all the memories of the time before Sameness, in case they are ever needed to aid in decisions that others lack the experience to make. As Jonas receives the memories from the previous receiver—the “Giver”—he discovers how shallow his community’s life has become. It is written in the third-person.

Now, I love books like this, Orwellian in theme. Thank you boys!

  1. Meridian looks really good and I loved The Giver when I read it some years back. I'll have to look into Holly's Inbox – that one looks cute too. Great finds this week!

  2. It looks like you have some great finds! I remember my kids read The Giver in school, but I can't recall what they thought of it. I should have my finds posted later today.

  3. I posted my Friday Finds!

There are some very good ones ^^

Glad I could help you find Meridian.

Im probably going to have a contest for it on August, so stay tuned!

  4. I found Meridian somewhere earlier and it sounds so good. I wouldn't mind reading it. I've got Holly's Inbox on my tbr pile and can't wait to read it.

  5. I like the sound of Meridian. What an eerie cover.

Some of my highschool buddies read The Giver in highschool. I believe most of them thought they were forced to read and reflect upon it. I wonder what you'll think of it. No matter, it is considered as some sort of a classic among many.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. Happy readings! =)

  6. I want to read The Giver at some point…I am getting behind with all of the books in my TBR stack!

What do you think?
