Today I’m going to tell YOU a story….

Now I was really lucky to be sent not one but two copies of this book, so that I could keep a copy for myself to read and give one away in a giveaway. And here lies a story, which I thought I’d share! I had a friend come round and she saw the two books sitting on my kitchen table and frowned.
“Mills and Boon?” Her face twisted into a bit of a sneer. “Are you serious?”
I laughed and wondered if there was a word for book-ism, or something that was highly prejudiced against books of a certain nature…. then I twigged.
“Oh, so you think this is all about the feeble woman who can’t live without a hero, and how she’ll meet the rich guy and he’ll not only sweep her off her feet as soon as she flutters her eyelashes at him, but he’ll also marry her and she’ll never have to work again for as long as they live happily ever after?”
“Well, yeah, ” she said, rolling her eyes making me laugh.”In a nutshell. My mother used to read these when I was a kid. The covers implied just that.”
That’s when I tapped the title at the top of my reviewers copy – the one that says, THINK YOU KNOW…
“I think this book has just found its new home!” I said, passing a copy to her. “Give it a chance you’ll be surprised.”
She smiled, thanked me, but I could tell she wasn’t convinced.
Then she flicked through the book and randomly read a page. I watched her eyes widen and then a big grin spread across her face.
“Fuck me, things have certainly changed since my mum read these?”
No shit, Sherlock. I said to myself! I rest my case. I also said to myself…
