Picturing Prince: An Intimate Portrait
is my feature book for the #Friday56 Bookish Meme with Freda. I’m also taking part in Book Beginnings, a weekly meme hosted by Rose City Reader.
Here are a couple of sentences from page 56:
This is a beautiful coffee table book, with lots of lovely pictures of Prince!
Here the author, Steve Parke, is talking about when he took over in-house design in Paisley Park in the early ’90s.
The only place to sit in our space besides at our desks was one sad, rickety wooden stool, which someone had probably stuck there at some point to get out the way. Prince insisted on sitting on it and he’d rock back and forth. A lot. We offered up our chairs on numerous occasions, but he preferred the stool. He rocked.
Book Beginnings:
The morning of April 21, 2016, my friend George in St. Paul, Minnesota, called me at my studio in Baltimore, to ask if I had heard the news. Something had happened at Paisley Park, he said.

Sounds like a fascinating biography. I’m curious about Prince and his creative process. This would be a good book to read while his music plays in the background.
