The Book Warren and Cafe

The Book Warren and Cafe

Hello Book Lovers!

Today’s post is a little different. Earlier this week I made a fantastic discovery, thanks to my friend who knows what a book fiend I am. Not far from where I live a new cafe has popped up and …da-da-dah! It’s a bookish cafe where you can buy books as well as tasty food!

**Does a little jig**

This is like my dream come true, so I demanded to be shown where it was hiding! LOL Seriously, nothing like this has crossed my path before, so local to me.

How did I get on?

I am so, so, sooooo pleased to say not only did I enjoy my visit immensely, but I also enjoyed meeting the lovely owner, her crew, and tasting her cakes!  And just in case you’re wondering, the Cappuccino was to die for too.

Just imagine, all this, plus being surrounded by books! I still feel like I’m walking in a daze right now – several days later… it’s marvellous.

I’m like woah! Look over there and there, oh and there! Books everywhere! LOL

But it’s not just that, along with the expected cafe table and chairs, (which are handy for laptops because of the free Wifi) there are also some cosy book nooks with lovely squashy sofas and comfy decor.  Ah! Bliss!

In addition to this, (and can things really get any better?) I really like how the owner, Lyndsay, also welcomes the sale of handmade gifts from the locals, which is a lovely idea.

They also have plenty of bookish events coming up, which I cannot wait to join in with! I am all for encouraging that community spirit and spreading the written word, especially when it helps children, or books reaching people who otherwise might miss out. So no doubt, with all this excitement of mine, you’ll be hearing again about the brilliant cafe! That name again? The Book Warren and Cafe!

Just in case you are getting as excited as me, here are some more pictures…

I’d like to end this post by thanking Lyndsay and her staff for such warm hospitality. I really felt at home there and that’s down to you! (And your books…)

Luv Sassy xx

P.S. They’re also dog friendly!

P.P.S. As I was writing this post I heard HOT OFF THE PRESS that the won the Muddy Stilettos Best Bookshop Award! (So now you know it’s not just me that is raving about it!)

      1. I feel for you, Noriko!! Really, I feel your pain haha! xxx Can I send food parcels to Japan? 😀

      2. Haha, thanks! But I think what really appeals to me is the whole package; I really want to experience it myself. I don’t think food itself doesn’t taste nearly as good as it would do over there!

  1. Love the feedback and glad you enjoyed our visit so much. Any excuse for a re-visit 😉

    1. Yes, thanks Linda — I owe you one. Or maybe even two flapjacks lol XXX

  2. Brilliant review I have loved this place since it opened I do all my video book reviews here it’s just a wonderful place isn’t it xx

    1. Thanks, Keira! That’s fantastic news. Yes, it’s such a lovely place. Maybe I’ll bump into you there soon!! xx

  3. It is a great venue, I have been a number of times. I have displayed art there and have had a few great book bargains. the food is great, the coffee hits the spot…. Do pop over there, you won’t regret it.

      1. I bet!!! Sounds like married life suits you! <3

  4. It looks so welcoming and all of those books. Love that! We have something similar here but I rarely get the chance to go back. I should try harder.

    1. Absolutely, Laura! These places need our support. We must love ’em, and nurture them… lol

  5. This is SO cool! I remember discussing an idea just like this with my ex a couple of years ago; we both said a casual place where you can get a bite to eat and buy books, along with a few other ideas, would be brilliant in our own. I love it! Such a lovely thing for Lyndsay to host handmade gifts from locals, too. Wish this were near me, or even in my country 😆 Sounds fab, I hope the business does as well as possible!
    Caz xx
