This book is part historical fiction and part murder mystery and although it’s early days for me I must say it’s a very interesting story!

A late night in February 1969, a man disappears from a small village on the isle Stord. In 1978, a young man writes a school project about Auschwitz Birkenau and a German officer who disappeares from Poland in the winter of 1944. 

As a result he gets aquainted with information he could never figure out by himself, among among them the connection to the former wife of the man who disappeared from Litlabø for a few years before. Is there any connection between the two men? 

What role does the Jewish family of Saddler Moishe Apfelbaum from Danzig play? A story about genocide, raw force, cynicism, odontophobia, diamonds, gold, fish that will not take the bait and the relationship between father and son.

  2. Mae – Windsor Ontario – I've been a reader ever since I was a little girl. Some of my fondest memories are of reading, whether it be with my dad or grandmother, or a book that was given to be as a gift. As a child I adored reading The Bernstein Bears, Curious George, Arthur and the Magic School Bus. While growing up I tended to stick to mostly classics my favourite being Anne of Green Gables and her series, before getting into Harry Potter. Now as an adult my genres range but have mostly stuck in the contemporary romance genre but am planning on expanding to include a vast range of genres. As an avid reader, I am always looking for the next thing to read, but have a hard time because the summaries on the books don’t really tell you much about them but reading reviews helps. I have decide to try my hand at it and see where it takes me.

  6. I found the extracts and premise quite interesting, but from the language used, I am guessing this is a translation and I am wondering just how proficiently this has been done. Still, as it is on offer for free right now, it might well be worth taking a punt on it!
