Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls

is my feature book for the #Friday56 Bookish Meme with Freda. I’m also taking part in Book Beginnings, a weekly meme hosted by Rose City Reader.

You can find the review here, by clicking this link!  (opens new tab).

Here are a couple of sentences from page 56:

Florence Nightingale May 12, 1820 – August 13, 1910. United Kingdom. Yes page 56 happens to be about a woman from the UK.

As soon as she arrived, Florence started collecting and examining all the data she could find. She discovered most of the soldiers died not because of their wounds, but because of infections and diseases contracted in the hospital.

Book Beginnings:

There are so many reasons why this book will always be special to us. Some are obvious: the record-breaking amount of money we raised through crowdfunding (more than one million dollars! Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls is the most funded original book in the history of crowdfunding), the astonishing number of backers from more than 70 countries, and the privilege of working with dozens of unbelievably talented female artists from all over the world.

Which book are you reading? Don’t be shy, do say hi!

I’m so looking forward to see what other books have been chosen for this meme! Last week was awash with more good reads to add to my shelves.

Rules: *Grab a book, any book. *Turn to page 56 or 56% in your eReader (If you have to improvise, that’s ok.) *Find any sentence, (or few, just don’t spoil it) *Post it. *It’s that simple.

  1. That old saying comes to mind. “Go to the hospital to get sick.” This sounds fascinating and I never knew about the fundraising.
