Raya Green ( Rutina Wesley ) wins a scholarship for Seaton Academy and begins to realize her dream of leaving the drugs and heartache of her home town. However, before graduation, she is forced to return home when her sister dies. As her bus nears her home town, Raya realizes the future is built upon the past. As she says in the movie,
“It’s funny how one moment can change so many others.”
From then on all her energies go into dance to prepare for the ultimate challenge: The Step Monster Contest. If she can win this contest she might have a chance of getting out of town and making her life better.
How She Move is filled with dancing and will attract the young. All my grandsons loved the movie. I wouldn’t mind learning how to dance like that myself even at my ripe age. How She Move is an uplifting story for parents. Teens are presented as showing determination to make their dreams come true and focus on getting the job done. I recommend this movie as rated. The drug content, suggestive material and language take a back seat to Raya Green’s story and her determination to win.
