Lonely to his soul, Bram Blackstone simply wants to love Declan O’Malley. But Declan is as damaged as he is and has rejected him because of it. A visit to see Thor, Bram’s younger brother, gives Bram the second chance he’s been yearning for. At first, when Declan disappears, it seems that it’s a plan to get back at Bram. Only, he has no idea who or why until a shocking piece of information comes to light that has Bram reliving horrors of a past he’s tried to put far behind him.
Locked into a wheelchair since the age of ten, Thor Blackstone now helps other wheelchair-bound people build their upper body strength in an equestrian facility in Oklahoma. Being the victim of their parents’ cruelty, Thor has first-hand knowledge of what abuse can do to a person left alone and unloved. He’s been so lucky to have been rescued and raised by a brother who truly loves him.
Given names meant to humiliate, being beaten, degraded and crippled are odds not many would survive, let alone overcome. To become good, loving men goes a long way to prove that love can prevail over many things. The evils of abuse in this book are unfortunately all too realistically portrayed. I must say the sex scenes were more romantic than I expected and the secret discovered enough to bring tears. For me this was a “hankie in hand” read and one I had to read again. Slowly. Enjoy.
