Aidan, who is the lead singer Splinter of the group Wildfire is the
highest ranked of the shape-shifters known as firebirds. He is the
Phoenix, who is able to resurrect each time he meets a violent death. He has fallen in love with of all things a mortal, classical
guitarist. Can not only two different cultures, but two different
beings find happiness together?
Corinne Westfall is a classical guitarist who has become so dissatisfied with her music that it’s become totally mechanical. The instant empathy she feels for Aidan both astounds and confounds her, but she is unwilling not to explore it. She’s about to find out that someone’s unwilling to allow that; on her terms at any rate.
John Westfall is Corinne’s and twins Ashley and Paige’s devious, power-hungry father. Unfortunately, the power he wants is not limited to just the kind that comes with being king of business. He wants what the kind Aidan has, for he knows what Aidan is, and decides to use Corinne to get it for him.
In Sunfire, Lynne Connolly has created an intriguing story in which the characters come across as real with normal reactions in context to the story. I’m not sure that if a gorgeous man suddenly turned into a huge red bird I wouldn’t freak. Even though I would love to see it happen. The need to protect, a simple wish to love and be loved, along with a father twisted by greed and hungry for a mystical power are just a few of the twists and turns we’re treated to besides some incredibly erotic sex that would make me go phew! It’s a great read and loads of fun.
