THE K.L. LOVELEY BLOG TOUR GUEST POST
🎄🎅🏻The CHRISTMAS Playlist 🎄🎅🏻
Hi Sassy, thank you very much for joining me on this Blog Tour. I truly appreciate your time and effort.
You have posted quite an interesting and seasonal question, one that allowed me to return to the previous, joyous moments of Christmas past. When I am writing, I prefer to be in a quiet room that is not to say, that the rest of my life is devoid of music and chatter. Quite the contrary in fact.
So here goes, in the order that my memories of Christmas past reminded me of ‘The most wonderful time of the year’.
Number one on my playlist is Last Christmas by Wham and produced by the late great George Michael in 1984. I vividly remember the video that accompanied this. I was thirty-one years of age with two small children. A magical time for me.
Number two is A Spaceman Came Travelling by Chris de Burgh. Although, this song was produced in 1975, it didn’t come to my attention until a few ago. However, when it did, I found it so quirky and interesting, that it always grabs my attention when being played on the radio.
Number three on my playlist is epic! It is Do they know it’s Christmas the Band-Aid song. This song brought tears to my eyes the first time that I heard it. I vividly remember my two young children, singing along to this and waving their little hands in the air. Pure magic.
We return to 1973 for song number four, it is Merry Xmas Everyone by Slade. This song has great energy. I was twenty years old when this was released and I was full of life and joy.
My fifth choice was also produced in 1973, it is I Wish it Could be Christmas Every Day, by Wizard. When I first saw the video of this crazy guy and the band members belt out this song, I was carried along with the same enthusiasm about Christmas.
We move forward a number of years for my sixth choice, All I Want for Christmas is You by Mariah Carey in 1994. This is a catchy, lively and upbeat Christmas song. In addition, whenever I hear this played, it reminds me of one of my favourite films, Love Actually.
Slowing things down somewhat, my seventh choice is Let it Snow. Let it Snow, sung by Michael Buble in 2003. I clearly remember my parents enjoying listening to this by Dean Martin when I was a child. This song conjures up fun and frolics on a winter’s day.
Throughout my childhood, the following song was a constant presence every Christmas. Mary’s Boy Child sung by Harry Belafonte in 1956. This reminds me of the true meaning of Christmas. So this is number eight on my playlist.
Silent Night sung by any number of artists is my ninth choice. This song has such clear notes and a simple message. I particularly enjoy it when sung in German.
Last, but not least is Happy Xmas,War is Over, by the late, great John Lennon in 1971. When I hear this poignant song played at such a special time of year, I have to question the motives of Mankind.
Happy Christmas everyone
